About University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
The Master of Urban Planning (MUP) is a professional program designed to prepare students for careers in public planning agencies, nonprofit organizations or in private practice. This two-year program is fully accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board (PAB). No specific undergraduate background is required for admission to this degree program, although many students come from backgrounds in Architecture, Geography, Political Science, Engineering, Urban Studies, and Business. During the program, students learn skills they need to pursue careers in planning though classes, internships and other opportunities, such as Faculty Research, Innovative Cities lectures, and the annual Causier Lecture.Points of Distinction
Our planning philosophy focuses on 4Ps. Partnerships: Build lasting collaborations with a diverse array of stakeholders throughout all parts of our communities. Place: Shape the long-term physical and social environment of communities in ways that enhance equity and democratic principles. Power: Empower people and organizations to influence community policy and project decisions to eliminate racial, economic, and gender inequalities and to support the public interest. Possibilities: Envision a more just and sustainable community, communicate how it can be achieved, and influence implementation. Students learn these concepts through hands-on projects with neighborhood groups, individuals, local agencies, non-profit companies, and other organizations.Degrees & Programs
