About University of Washington Seattle
The MUP degree covers planning history, theory, methods, and technical and soft skills, reflecting the needs of planning practice. Studio courses allow students to work on planning issues in local communities, and capstone projects provide applied research opportunities in a professional context. We have five specialization areas, four joint/dual degrees with departments across UW, and provide mentors for every student through our Professionals Council. We're happily in the Pacific Northwest; Seattle is an environmentally conscious and tech-savvy Pacific Rim global city. The ever-changing Puget Sound region presents planning challenges and opportunities to professionals and students alike.Points of Distinction
Established in 1936, ours is one of the oldest programs in the country. We are in the dynamic College of Built Environments (with Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Real Estate, and Construction Management) at one of the top-ranked universities globally. Our students go on to public, private, and non-profit jobs in Washington and internationally. The training and professional connections gained during students' time here, combined with robust job opportunities for planners in the state, means that many find jobs in the region.Degrees & Programs
