About University of Missouri-Kansas City
We are a studio-based accredited Urban Planning program where students analyze, plan, and engage with communities to develop new solutions to the problems of tomorrow. Students take 5 semesters of studio gaining the skills necessary for professional practice in the public, private and non-profit sectors. We work with students to build their portfolios in order to land paid internships in planning firms and agencies in greater Kansas City and elsewhere. In the last year of studio, students work on professional projects for neighborhoods and communities. Faculty research and consulting works to advance planning knowledge.Points of Distinction
We are the only PAB accredited urban planning program in the state of Missouri. The Center for Neighborhoods provides leadership training for future neighborhood leaders adding to the capacity of Kansas City community organizations. Graduates of our program work in planning positions in Greater Kansas City and throughout the United States. Students complete more coursework in Urban Planning + Design in our undergraduate program than typical Master's programs; yet get into planning practice with the BA. This saves time and money for students.Degrees & Programs
