About Salisbury University

At SU our learning community is student-centered. We strive to empower our students with Planning knowledge, skills, and core values that contribute to active citizenship, gainful employment, and life-long learning in a democratic society and interdependent world. The Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning (BS-URPL) Program at SU provides students with a solid foundation in planning principles, models, and techniques that professional planners use to help communities meet current and future challenges, and create sustainable development. Our alumni are employed in state and local governments, and private and nonprofit organizations. A significant portion of them attended graduate schools.

Points of Distinction

The interdisciplinary orientation of the BS-URPL program provides students with an in-depth understanding of complex urban and regional issues, and knowledge of related fields. Students can choose one of two tracks: the Land Use Planning Track or the Environmental Planning Track. A variety of minors (e.g., Economics, Environmental Studies, GIS, and Political Science) allows URPL majors to further tailor their degree to their interests. Our students get real-life experiences as they work with faculty on research projects, participate in planning internships with state and local agencies, join the Smart Growth Club to develop leadership skills, and participate in community activities.
