About Georgetown University
We prepare emerging leaders to become trusted professionals empowered to guide place-based and community-based urban development in a global context. We firmly believe that the practice of city-building is uniquely positioned to reconcile social, environmental, and economic challenges. Grounded in Georgetown's traditions of academic excellence and social justice, our program is located in the heart of Washington, D.C., the most important node of urban planning and development practice in the world. Our distinguished faculty actively support students to benefit from the many institutions, organizations and agencies in our community.Points of Distinction
Our program is designed around the individual student. We actively support each student to pursue the degree in alignment with their professional goals and aspirations. Students pursue the degree at their own pace, choosing accelerated full-time status (15 months), full-time status (two years), or part-time status, which enables each student to concurrently engage in professional internships, apprenticeships, or employment. All students must complete and defend a master’s thesis before a faculty committee. We are a proud member of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning and our curriculum embraces the Planning Accreditation Board’s North American standards for graduate programs.Degrees & Programs
